About Lake Washington Schools Foundation:
Lake Washington Schools Foundation (LWSF) gathers and deploys community resources to enhance academic access and nurture the well-being of students in the Lake Washington School District (LWSD).

About this role:
Under the supervision of the Executive Director, this role supports LWSF’s strategic fundraising efforts by implementing programs aimed at targeting donors and prospects. This position also maintains donor databases and mailing lists, and generates fundraising and donor reports systematically and on-demand. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the supervision of the Executive Director, the Development Associate: 
  • Takes active and primary responsibility for the planning and implementation of fundraising campaigns, projects, and special events designed to meet LWSF’s annual income goals.  
  • Creates maintains, and monitors LWSF’s online fundraising webpages and other fundraising access points, including workplace donation matching sites. 
  • Enters data into LWSF’s donor database; maintains database files and records including those used to track contributions; maintains accurate mailing lists. 
  • Confirms verifies, and/or follows up on deposits, gift requests, matching gift contributors, and credit card charges; provides information to donors and prospective donors as required. 
  • Develops, writes, prepares, and disseminates donor correspondence, and writes and/or assists in the writing of solicitation proposals, as appropriate. 
  • Responds to donor inquiries with accurate and timely information. 
  • Provides financial stewardship and reporting to donors; in collaboration with Operations department, ensures appropriate expenditure of donor funds. 
  • Through a strong working knowledge of LWSF’s donor database, obtains, analyzes, and prepares reports on data pertinent to ongoing Development goals.  
  • Participates in and assists with major events and coordinating event-day logistics, as needed. 
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned. 
Meetings and Professional Development:
  • Attend weekly staff meetings and other meetings as necessary. 
  • Encouraged to partake in professional development activities by subscribing to and/or reading fundraising periodicals, journals, and newsletters, and attending professional development conferences. LWSF will cover approved, appropriate expenses. 

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Required experience: 
  • Bachelor's degree and at least 2 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified; OR 
  • Associate’s Degree and 4 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified; OR 
  • 6 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. 
Required skills: 
  • Skill in the use of personal computers and Microsoft 365 software applications. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities, and complete projects with a minimum of supervision. 
  • Ability to work independently, solve problems, and actively seek assistance when needed. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to maintain effective working relationships within a small team environment. 
  • Dependability and a collaborative spirit. 
  • Database and records management skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy. (Experience using Salsa CRM and Salsa Engage preferred.) 
  • Clear and persuasive verbal and written communication skills in English. 
  • Ability to conduct research, gather data, analyze information, and prepare reports and other materials. 
  • Ability to exercise good judgment, demonstrate an understanding of ethics related to development activities, and use discretion in interactions with donors, prospects, volunteers, and others.
